JBCC is deeply connected to the community of Shoalhaven Heads & the surrounding area via the service we provide to our community, the relationship that creates with families in our area & by the partnership which families enter into when they join our Managament Committee or Fundraising Committee.
Shoalhaven Heads has many community groups & 100's of volunteers who work tirelessly to make our village the beautiful place to live, that it is.Those community groups include –
The following is an idea of how integral each of these groups is to each other & our community.
The Shoalhaven Heads Fishing club holds a charity day each year in January. For many years the funds raised were donated to Child Flight. In recent years funds were donated to any local groups who wished to take part. It is a huge event & raises much needed funds for many non-profit organisations in the community.
JBCC was involved in January 2008 & we had a great day raising funds & having fun.
JBCC also benefits from the expertise of the Men's Shed, which is located across the road from the Centre. To quote from the Shoalhaven Heads Community Newsletter dated March 2007 –
The Men's Shed is a fantastic concept – boosting men's self esteem & providing an outlet for their talents following retirement, unemployment or retrenchment.
Many of our broken toys go to the Men's Shed for repairs. They also boost our numbers at working Bees.
MOW is located on the same (though seperated) grounds as JBCC. It's wonderful for the children to learn about volunteering & community by watching these dedicated people go about their tasks with pride & joy.
